About
Halabiye is a Byzantine fortress on the bank of the Euphrates between Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa, on the site of the Palmyrene city of Zenobia, rebuilt by the emperor Justinian in the 6th century; the castle of Zalabiye faces it across the river.
