Its vast hall is roofed with domes on massive piers in alternating black and white stone; once an inn for merchants and their caravans, it now hosts exhibitions and cultural events.

A madrasa built between 1167 and 1172 by Sultan Nur al-Din Zangi in Souq al-Khayyatin, where he was buried after his death in 1174. His tomb chamber is crowned by a muqarnas dome, one of the finest examples of Zengid architecture in Damascus.
