About
Tell Ahmar is the site of Til Barsip, an Aramaean city on the Euphrates and capital of the kingdom of Bit Adini, taken by the Assyrians in the 9th century BC and renamed Kar-Shalmaneser. Its Assyrian palace yielded painted wall murals that are among the finest examples of Assyrian art.
